🔩 Scenario A: Unseizing & Separating Corroded Mechanical Assemblies

Prep Severe Buildup: In cases of heavy rust or flaking scale, scrape away excess surface buildup using a stiff wire brush or scraper prior to application so the fluid can reach seam tolerances directly.

Apply Liberally & Leverage Gravity: Shake can well and spray liberally into threads, seams, or joint crevices. Pro Tip: While capillary action will naturally draw fluid into tight spaces in any direction, it works fastest when paired with gravity. Whenever possible, spray from the top down and position the assembly so the fluid creeps naturally toward the problem area.

Work Fluid In & Apply Mechanical Shock: Work the fluid into any exposed surface seams with a wire brush. Lightly tap or hit the mechanical assembly from the top and sides with a hammer or mallet. This vibration creates micro-fractures in the rust bond, drawing the fluid deep into tight crevices much faster.

Dwell & Disassemble: Allow 2–5 minutes for full saturation before applying mechanical torque. Scrape away dislodged rust scale with a wire brush as the bond breaks down, and reapply for severely seized hardware.

Initial Surface Cleaning: Use a wire brush, steel wool, or abrasive pad to remove loose surface dirt, heavy flaking rust, or thick scale from the metal object.

Spray & Work Into Metal: Spray a uniform coat of Maltby across the exposed metal surface. Scrub the fluid actively into pitted areas and tight corners using a wire brush or abrasive pad to break up embedded oxidation.

Scrape Dislodged Rust & Wipe Clean: Allow the formula to penetrate for 3–5 minutes as it crawls into micro-pitting. Scrape off the loosened rust residue with a wire brush or steel wool, then wipe the surface clean with a shop towel or rag.

Protective Seal: For long-term corrosion prevention, apply a final light mist of Maltby over the clean metal and allow it to dry. The active ingredients will leave a thin, protective barrier shielding hardware, tools, and equipment from future humidity, moisture, and salt air.
